The start of the holiday season brought a few more people to the mountain, although many of them were just here for the day. We had also an unexpected visitor from the Sahara. When the wind blows in from the Mediterranean and further south, the sand brought with it changes the colour of the sky and often the snow as well.

By early afternoon the wind had died away, but the Scheidegg pistes, Wixi and the racecourse particularly, had acquired orange stripes where the sand had landed. The conditions under foot were pretty good still. Skiing on the beach works.
I have not checked the weather forecast for tomorrow morning. Anything might happen, it seems. A gritty day of sun, sand and decent skiing brought 8,101 vertical metres in 17 lift rides and 43 kilometres travelled.
