It is still holiday time in some Cantons, but not everyone has inked in Wengen as their destination. It was much quieter on the mountain today and many of those who were skiing were day trippers. It may be very quiet tomorrow. We are in two minds about that. The village needs the business, but empty slopes are always a winner.
The Idle Skier was at the cable car by 9.15am this morning and Mrs IS followed on half an hour later. Neither of us suffered a queue at Central Sport or the cable car. We ventured down to Grund and onto the Eiger Express, also without a queue, although the cars were at their socially distanced maximum capacity.
The weather outlook from Meteo Swiss for this week is one of constant sunshine and high temperatures. At lunchtime, at the start of a second circuit of Mannlichen and Scheidegg, it was hot in the village. It is a bit early in the year for this sort of weather.
Sunday in the sun brought 9,025 vertical metres in 18 lift rides and 55 kilometres travelled.
