The weather didn’t turn out as forecast today, the expected sun being replaced by a hazy cloud. In the early afternoon, the light was flat, prompting the Idle Skier to make a trip to Grund, with better conditions through the trees.
My own forecast, of a quiet day on the hill, seemed at first to have missed the mark as well. There was a lengthy queue at the cable car this morning. It turned out to be widely spaced though. I was on the mountain in seemingly no time at all to find empty pistes.

At Grund, the section of the gondola up to Holenstein was closed, but even so the Eiger Express was almost empty. The ski season has a couple of months to run but, the occasional Saturday aside, we may have seen the last of the busy days. I am afraid it might be a long, slow spring for the many businesses of the Jungfrau region.
A quiet day, missing the expected sun, brought 10,324 vertical metres in 20 lift rides and 54 kilometres travelled.
