Dawn arrived reluctantly today. At 8.00am, it seemed like night time still. We ate breakfast with the lights on. It was raining down here in the lower part of the village. The day did not seem promising.
Things picked up though. I had arranged to meet friends at the top of the gondola at Mannlichen at 10.00am and by the time I made it there, there was some blue sky. The morning skiing was first rate. The rain in the village had fallen as snow higher on the mountain and yet again there were very few skiers to disturb the light dusting of powder on the pistes.

By early afternoon, the clouds were pushing up the Lauterbrunnen valley. It looked as unpromising as the early morning and we skied on through our planned lunch stop to make the most of the good light.
However, the fine weather lasted for most of the afternoon and it was only on Wixi late in the afternoon that the clouds caught up. It was a good day from an unpromising start.
A day in some new snow brought 8,010 vertical metres in 20 lift rides and 47 kilometres travelled.
