The weather turns

The weather turned briefly last night with some very light snow and a cloudy start to the day. Under the cable car this morning, the chamois grazed their near vertical breakfast with a light frosting to finish. On the pistes, the dusting of snow seemed to have freshened things up to near perfection. By mid morning, the sun had broken through, but it remained bitingly cold.

The weather turns properly in a couple of days, with snow forecast. In the meantime, we expect a mix of sun and cloud. Will that mean a busy weekend? Maybe, but the real crowds should arrive in a week or so, when the half term holidays begin. The word around the village is that it is going to be very busy during February.

A great skiing day brought 8,948 vertical metres in 19 lift rides and 49 kilometres travelled.
