It was sunny this morning, with a faultless blue sky. This was a surprise. A brief glance at the weather forecast last night had promised snow today. Maybe I misread it, but it was a perfect day still as I headed for the lift.
I beat the rush for the cable car by seconds it seemed, with a queue forming as far as Central Sport in the time it took me to get from the door of the cable car to the platform. The weather did change though and before midday the clouds were rolling in to the Jungfrau Region.
By early afternoon, the light was flat and the crowds had gone home. Wixi was quiet, but lively still, with two spectacular crashes just above the bridge within a couple of minutes of each other. In both cases, the teenagers responsible seemed indifferent to the carnage they caused. The second culprit skied off leaving his elderly target prostrate on the piste, although he was caught by other skiers further down the hill.
A lively day on the hill brought 10,072 vertical metres in 21 lift rides and 55 kilometres travelled.
