Sound of silence

I left home this morning at about 9.00am.  It was quiet, with a stillness to the morning which happens only rarely. I saw no one at all until I passed under the railway bridge and the only sound was bird song.  There were a few people on the high street, but the cable car was not full and that set the tone for the day.

In the gardens on the hill to the village, the snowdrops are in flower.  There may be snowy, cold days between now and the end of the season, but spring has arrived in the village.

Still though there is great skiing on the mountain, made all the better by the empty pistes. A mainly sunny day brought 10,762 vertical metres in 23 lift rides and 58 kilometres travelled.
