On the way home yesterday the wind was picking up. I thought little about it and forgot to look at the forecast last night. This morning came as a surprise therefore. The trees near the chalet were bending in the wind and the Choughs were circling. It didn’t seem promising.
The cable car was running thankfully. On the mountain though there was little to enjoy; only the piste to Holenstein was feasible. After a while, the cable car closed. It seemed the gondola from Holenstein might follow quickly, but it survived until midday and possibly later.

Early in the afternoon, I headed to Grund. Despite the weather, the piste was in fantastic condition all the way to the Aspen hotel. The Eiger Express took me to Eigerletscher, where options were limited again. I headed into the Punchbowl, which proved to be bullet proof ice all the way to the Arven lift. After a few runs there I headed to the village against the wind.
Meteo Swiss assures me the weather will be worse tomorrow. We can only hope for the best.
A windy day, with some sun and a little rain, brought 6,411 vertical metres in 14 lift rides and 45 kilometres travelled.
